Rust, what is a reasonable quote for repair?

Hi everyone, my 1998 N15 has developed quite a few rust spots over the last 6 months so I thought I'd check out behind the boot carpet. One side is fine but the other looks like the photo. What sort of money should I be paying to get it fixed, I assume the MOT man will have an issue because of the proximity to the seatbelt? I haven't had to have welding done for over 10 years so I don't want my pants pulling down.

I know it's an old thread but it pays to shop around. I've had exactly the same problem but I managed to find someone who did my welding for £70. That's both sides as well. It doesn't look pretty if I'm honest but it's not an area that tends to be seen so it does me haha. Most garages would probably charge at least £150 I reckon.

Thanks mate. I've had 2 quotes for £300+ so I'll look around some more if you managed to get it that much cheaper!

Probably 3 hours labour plus paint and materials. You could just get quoted for the welding and matte black and prime the area when you get it back. That would save you some cash.
