LH seat belt pre-tensioner (airbag flashes)

Ok, my airbag light has annoyingly come back on again (after clearing it a few months back, to pass MOT).

The diagnostic flashes are 1 long then 3 short, which the service manual says is the passenger side, pre-tensioner unit.
Is this something you guys have seen before? I have tried the reset procedure but it doesn;t work here. Am I OK to put in a 2nd hand one? EDIT --->>>I have just put in a 2nd hand, from my blue and the problem is still there. I can enter/exit diagnostic but it's happily flashing away, like a pervert on a night-bus.

IGNORE------>>>>I can see how to remove the tensioner itself but cannot fathom how to get the slider part off (the bit above my shoulder). any pointers? <<<------- Brute-force and Wodgey power applied, unit now removed.

Suggestions please, as I am stumped as what to try next.

Right, Have also swapped out the sensor that's hiding down by the pre-tensioner also. No joy I'm afraid and I am getting to the point where I'm resenting the effort/frustration ratio. Going to buy a strip of 2.7Ω resistors tomorrow and going to start splicing them in, until I find the problem.

tips/pointers would definitely be appreciated.

Get in, you dancer!

Wodgey 1, Airbag warning lights 0

went to extra time, with a red-card given to "electrical connector strip-blocks"

Back to dance around and celebrate in the sunshine

Ok, it looks like my self-congratulatory celebrations were a little premature! Whatever intermittent fault there is, it causes the warning to show and the light to flash but tryin g to enter diagnostic mode clears the warning. there's obviously a fault in some wiring, like a loose connection somewhere.

Hi Wodgey, I hope you had success, I too have air bag going in diagnostics 2 long 2 short, do you have a copy of the workshop manual link I could look at to try and diagnose, I've been through every connector I can see and they all test out ok and I need a more focused approach
