Almera 53 plate OBD2? software help?????

Hello all,

My 53 plate UK built Almera has an abs and ESP light on the dash board with no engine management light. The button doesn't do anything to the lights when pressed.
I would like to scan the car and find out what is wrong. I would rather buy the required bits to enable me to do the work rather than going to a garage.

My question is what cable will I require (OBD 2?) and where should I buy it from and what software could I install on my laptop to work the fault codes ect. and where is a reliable source to get it from.

For instance my old Audi I had a lead and Vag-com that I used.

Thanks kindly for your help much appreciated.

Rather than starting lots of new threads, ask questions in the 'question and answer thread'.

Where is the question and answer thread. There isn't one that says that. I would like to suggest that the mods and forum owners take a look at these categories as things are everywhere. This forum needs an update badly

I have done so already thanks and your link took me to a random post where a member wanted to start question about non related almera topics. Come on wake up. If you don't have anything to add to someone's post like an actual answer to a question then don't post. Thanks

Care to re-phrase your reply? All I've done is point you to a more appropriate thread, which you couldn't find, so i gave you a rough link to get there.

Just wont bother next time. These young gun newbies think they know it all. They can do their own research, rather than get spoon fed info which is easily accessible online.

I have brought up this issue with the forum with whom many moderators agree with the poor search facility. They also agree that newbies as you call them must find it had to find anything and understand where to post questions.
If your like me, you don't want to be spoon fed information as I am a very capable engineer and enjoy fault finding and asking questions that benefit my research. I must admit my response to your help wasn't correct and I apologise if it upset you.
