Honda Accord

looks good, i do like, has the synchro mesh on 5th gear been done? that another common problem with them

It has lost reverse, but not 5th weirdly... so the box is coming out this weekend and getting sent away to get done. Then at least I know it's fine.

Eddie you clearly don't know me...... you think I would/can take a car up to it's rev limit. :)

Nah I'm not really sure, haven't driven it at all apart from the test drive.

Yeah can't wait to get it all shiny. Should have it looking good for JAE. That's if I'm still. Welcome of course.

Well it's quite funny really, as I thought I'd hit it, but it was only when I actually hit it, which I thought was the second time but on reflection was the first, that i knew that I hadn't.

That doesn't really make sense.

Anyway, I'm unbelievably happy just now. To finally get to drive it and enjoy it.

However, now the work really starts for me. With a list as long as my arm to get done over the next few months.

I bought the car with the dreaded, no reverse gear. Sent the box off and had it rebuilt after about 2 months I finally got the box back with a nice new 5th gear set and new bearings throughout. I picked the car up on a Thursday and I was away camping on the Saturday. I drove 370 miles, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Was nice getting to know the car and all it's little quirks.
One of the little quirks was the revs held themselves quite high when the clutch was disengaged. I had a look at the throttle body and a lot of spray on grease is present. I'm going to order the new gaskets, and get the throttle body off and clean the EGR valve out too. If this doesn't solve it, then I'll chance my arm at Honda and order a throttle cable,, and enter the lucky dip to see if I get a good one.
The weekend gave me the oppertunity to give it it's first wash. Always good as it gives me the oppertunity to have a good look at the paintwork and see any issues that were there. Nothing major to report either.
I started taking out some of the old audio cables too.
I snow foamed the car with AB Magifoam with a touch of APC thown in too. Washed the wheels with AS Smart Wheels. Two bucket method with DJ Born to be Mild. Dried with Optimum Quick Detailer. Dressed the tyres with CG New Look Trim Gel.

I've got some of the Mrs nail varnish looked out. I'll take the stickers off and paint the recess. Wheels need a refurb really.
