Apexi Update!

When I bought the Apexi from Steve55 I knew I'd need an adaptor to make it fit. Paul has managed to plastic weld one together which has proven to serve him well and looks good and strong. Andy made a crackin shout that he could get a plate made up for me in work provided he had all of the dimensions needed.

He took all of the measurements needed and then went into work to talk to the machinist about drilling the plate for me.

He took the sizes in last tuesday but the machinist was busy until today. The plater was drilled out and then cut down to the appropriate size as below:

Andy then brought it back to his house tonight and assembled it together using SS bolts while I removed the old airbox.

The completed assembly:

Bolted to the car:

Sounds a treat now and I can't wait to take it out for a spin to see the difference from a panel filter (if any...it was mainly about the sound)

A MASSIVE thankyou to Andy for sorting this for me and thanks to his colleague (even though he will never see this) for everything they have done. If Andy gets a chance I'm sure he can do the finer break down of the process :)

Loving my car at present. Really happy with it, first car I have ever owned and it puts a smile on my face when I walk out the house in the morning. BOOM.

Any update on the maf cleaning, dud you see an improvement in the mpg..? Oh & what's the legal reasons for spraying the springs..?

P.s it took 8 hours to change the suspension I was going to fit my collies myself, but if it takes that long I can't be fussed, got any tips incase I decide to take on the task myself, in the same boat never changed 1 before.

Cheers

I sprayed the springs up so when pc plod pulls me over and has a look underneath he just sees black springs which should help him decide the car isnt lowered ;) my boot is that full id be convincing enough to say that its because of all of the weight why it is so low. But tbh it looks the standard height it should be anyway. If you're putting coilies on i wouldnt imagine it'd take as long as it took me and andy. Maybe 5-6 hours? We were stopping for breaks quite often though haha.

Also it'd be irrelevant with the insurance mate as if i have an accident theyd check the springs anyway

I noticed better mpg's for around 4 days but i then fitted the apexi so things got worse again..id recommened cleaning the MAF definitelythough :)

Cheers for that fella, damn your mpg figures gone pair shaped after that mod & darn it I didn't know coilovers were illegal!! I just bought myself some red fluorescent plasti dip paint to do the springs!! :( lucky I bought some black too.

I want to gave my sensor a clean, Ive taken the sensor out but how would I open it seems to be enclosed..?

Coilovers arent illegal from what i can remember mate :) provided you declare them to insurance you'll be sorted its just until i can afford to inform the ins im keeping things on the low down with my car haha

When you say you have took the sensor out do you mean removed the sensor from the maf or just removed the maf tubing..?

Coilovers wont take as long as changing springs dude. Just have to take the strut off and replace with the coilover.. simples!
