R32 GTR seats

As a few of you know i recently bought some R32 GTR seats for the old mera, and progress has now started with the first seat actually going into the car (at last), unfortunately no pictures as of yet as i'm not taking any till the second is in the car which should be tomorrow if all goes well

As a little update R32 seats have been done into the N15 in the past and apparently the upgrade into that is just changing the mount slightly and they bolt straight in, Well.... being the N16 and it being a pain in the ass to buy any other part out of a car and actually get it to fit this is the same case with these seats, because the mounts on the skyline are sooooo different to the N16 mounting points this is where the first problem hit, N16 seat rails are both the same height on the seat, where the skyline is not, one is higher than the other, and also the N16 rails are slightly wider than the skyline as well coming to the second problem, had a good few days of testing and brain racking to be able to figure out a way to do this we couldn't work out a way to weld the rails on and then just bang them in as the width of the rails was less than a inch in it, so what we have had to do is create a new mounting point using stupidly strong steel and also play around with the mounts, also the seats sit slightly lower as well than the standard seats but isn't stupidly low where you just can't see at all.

But all this has finally come to a success the first seat is now in the car and is solid and moves backwards and forwards as well so MOT time will be fine, unfortunately i've had to have a bit of carpet cut away, but i'm going to grab some off a scrapyard mera in a few days time and attempt to make a peice of carpet to cover the gaps and also a bit of the new mounting plate, but this isn't really a massive rush at the moment as it's still a long time before the shows start again

Will post up the photo's tomorrow as long as the second one is done but can defiantly confirm that GTR seats WILL fit into the N16 with enough will power to not give up during the process or throw them out the window :)

Good stuff Pred. Looking forward to getting mine in, and hopefully the engineers I'm giving them to won't have the same sort of problems and they can whip something up nicely :)

Ye let me know what solution you come to it could be done with changing the mounts for deffo but the guy thats doing mine isnt a engineer so we donn't have the equipment to do that sort of thing with strong enough steel and actually be able to work with it aswell, the way we have done it is deffo the easiest way of the lot... but you being a perfectionist ed :p i can see yours looking slightly neater than mine haha but ill sort it out eventually just trying to concentrate on getting second in atm

well after many troubles its finally done the seats are now in the car and here are the photo's do apologies for the state of my back seats but i haven't had the time to clear it up

They look good!

Is the drivers one sitting lower or is just the angle of the picture?

i have just checked them and the passenger one is slightly higher but all the trouble ive gone through to actually get them in im not going to change them lol its not much prob less than 1cm difference

will get some when i get chance i was losing light when i took them pictures as thats the unfortunate thing about winter it gets dark early i need to take the drivers one out anyway to try boost it up a little bit anyway so will take pictures of the rails and the block on the floor and explain why i have a massive block welded to the floor lol
