nissan almera tino 2.2 DI 2002 slow

problem with my nissan almera tino 2.2 DI 2002 slow with hesitation until the turbo kicks in at 1900 revs is this normal? I had a major service done on it and a new egr valve and its still the same,Maybe they are just slow? The garage didnt find any faults, also I tend to have to drop down the gears a lot around town, runs perfect on motorways. After having previously owned the tino 1.8 petrol with plenty of oomph I find this strange. Any one else know something .Thanks

Its old and only 110bhp ,the newer dci engines found in the facelift models are far better as in terms of power 136bhp.

The 1.8 petrol's are such a flexible engine. Cant believe how people put them down tbh.

I put the QG18 down because its rubbish. Gutless things and not even great on fuel to compensate for the lack of performace.

The qg is one of the best engines in any cars I've driven for daily, nippy as fuck off the line and in town, kills a sr to 4k.

Ignore the 0 to 60 its responsive and quick in gear.

It's an utterly rubbish French inspired piece of crap. A rover K series would be more reliable.

How so? It's one of the most unreliable engines made in recent times. It's under powered, expensive to run and I'll say it again, French.

Expensive to run...Compared to what? I don't think it is given engine size or I would not be running one.

As I've already said it's not underpowered either.More than enough for a daily. Can easily sit at 100MPH no probs and still pulls hard.

It's Reliable as most once the cam chain is done and serviced on time.

Having had a 1.5, a 1.8 and an SR20 in the SAME car, I can say that the 1.5 was pointless (may aswell flintstones the car around), the 1.8 was nippy (at best), the SR20 was the fastest AND returned the best MPG.

At no point at any revs in any gear was the 1.8 anywhere near as quick as a stock SR20. Just because it can sit at 100mph doesnt mean its a fast car. An 8v 1.4 Polo can do 100mph.

The GA series of engine was much more reliable than the QG and not a great difference in performance either.

I've got a well modded p11 gt and it's quick (170bhp dyno ) and the qg18 is still quicker to 4k in any gear at any time. After 4k however the sr is a animal and totally kills the qg18.

Qg engine better for daily.Sr the better engine in terms of strength and durability and more suited for the highway/track.

Only thing I do agree on is the qg15de is shit slow.
