Interesting any idea what is failing so a replacement is needed? Would be good to know in event that replacement fails eventually again?

If you take the door trim panels off you will see the door has the outer panel you can touch from outside the car and an inner panel that the door mech is attached to & the trim panel. Both need sound deadening added to them to improve insulation & sound deadening once you have the panel off you...
The filter paper wasn't the issue the housing was a captive nut that wore easily as metal was soft. So if you don't wanna be able to get paper filter out then is all good but if you want to change without much issue this is a must have change.

Nissan would have to code the unit to the car which iirc is £50-80. Is your current unit faulty hence the need for replacement? As there is no guarantee the one from a breaker would function as a pal found out after having to pay Nissan to code the new unit and still not being able to make use...
Am pretty sure G does his own oil changes etc so oil was defo put in.
So gutted to hear this G, when John told me I was proper gutted for you and wondered how it was possible as I know your meticulous with looking after your cars. Hope you get a decent block and this rebuilt asap?

Gutted to see the car being so poorly bud but it confirms that it needs sorting & hopefully a few more clues to help in finding out what the issue is.
