Yep as said via pm check under the drivers footwell there is a silver hedgehog looking resistor that according to the stealership is a common fault if the heater unit is operated with the vents closed as it overheats and blows. Once removed you will see if it has gone or not.

Always a gd thing to wrap any exposed bits with electrical tape. Had an AA guy lecture me about this a few weeks ago when my battery died on me and he saw exposed wires.

Mine failed and went to a local motor factors and it was a Nissan one that had been refurbed as they had ground the nissan symbol off from the other side of cylinder as shown in Ed's image. Mine has been spot on since fitting.

As they stated they need tack welding in as there are not any bolts to hold them in which is a shame. A simple fix though bit worth treating first so the replacement doesn't follow suit and rust.

Just did mine with the help of John was a simple fix only issues we had were to do with the pattern part having additional bolts and they needed cutting off. Think this is due to the part being based on the phase 1 crossmember.

Also check condition of the earth strap from battery to chassis then to engine block as if that is on its way or frayed it could cause starting issues also.
