Is there a bolt underneath that breather on the top right? Without being cruel, if you can't get a rocker cover off, this job is well beyond you. The lucky thing is no solenoid suggests no VVT.
Is there not a cover on the side you can remove to inspect the chain tensioner. If it sticks out more than 1cm the chain has stretched. As for the rocker cover, if all the bolts are definitely out, including the solenoid then it really should just prize off. Pictures say a thousand words, get...
