to get the gti to 200bhp with out to much stress on the engine?????
going pop aint an option!!!!

needs:
cams/pulleys
air filter
header
exaust
de cat
remap ecu
port and polish head/skim head

anything else???

cheers

its a bit of a tall order i would have thought seeing as you need to add about 55 BHP. Turbo? Supercharger? SR20VE with a few bolt-ons?

thought as much :)

200 HP from an SR20 is easy...use N20

Get cold spark plugs...£50ish
N20 system...£500ish
Fuel pump...£200

Take you exhaust system off from the downpipe back, and dial in 5 degrees retard on the ignition timing. Then put some Optimax or better fuel in the tank and run a 100 shot.

You wll clear 200 HP no problem and will have way more han 200 Lbft as well.

200 HP N/A from the SR20DE isn't hard, but can get costly...

You will need the following as an approximation...

S4 or bigger cams - £400
House Filter with intake pipe - £200
Good exhaust at least 2.5" bore (no powerflow shit) - £300
Tubular manifold - £400
Higher compression, i.e. skimmed head or high comp. pistons - £500ish
Head work - £500+
ECU w/ RPM upped - £400+
Fuel system - £300ish
Flywheel - £300
Bolt ons - £300

That's quite a bit for 200 Hp and you will probably surpass it with that setup...

Go with the easy option.

Get a VE motor, use N20 or go Turbo!

Dave

^^ For that amount money you can get two GTis, then you wood have nigh on 300bhp! :D

Could i easily drop a VE motor in a 1.4si???? save buying a GTI init

It's a back-street garage job ;)

(easy as ...)

... provided you have everything - ECU, engine loom, GTi/VE g'box, shafts etc

... dials if you're swapping between phases

... imobiliser chip from the key for the VE (where applicable)

shame there arnt more ve's around!! do they come up for import often?? links anyone??

best place to get them is Ireland strangely enough. there is quite a few over there i believe. Other than that, you could maybe ask an import company like Newera to source you one, but you'll pay through the nose for it. Get an N1 if you can find one.

If your only after the engine, some Finnish place does them, there is a link in the recommended section.

Yea good luck finding one

Why though ?? It's only as powerful as the SR20VE and already tuned to the max really. Get a later P12 SR20VE with 204ps as std with more scope for tuning.

aye, but where else are you gonna find an n/a 200HP 1.6, you will embarass a few people when you tell them what it is. :D

i would prefere the extra bore of the 2 ltr compared to the 1.6. are the vz-r's prone to going "BANG"!?!?!?!
