Nissan Engine Codes Explained


- The first 2 Letters are the Engine Series
i.e. SR or GA etc.

- The next 2 numbers are the displacement (engine size) i.e:
16 = 1.6
20 = 2.0
etc.

- The next Letter is the Valve Train.
D = DOHC
V = VVL (Variable Valve Lift + DOHC)
If it is anything other than this then the letter is infact missing and this means that it is SOHC.

- The Next Letter is the Fuel delivery system
E = Multipoint Fuel Injection
I = Throttle Body Fuel Injection
D = Direct Injection

- The Next Letter(s) is the Forced Induction Type
T = Single Turbo
TT = Twin Turbos
R = Supercharger
T+R or TT+R = Oversized Turbo(s)
