Pulsar C13 Tekna Dci (spiritual successor to the almera?)

So we traded in Emmas juke for a new 64 plate pulsar as I love how they look :) we had a bit of back and fourth with Gordon lamb Nissan and came to a good price it had 6500 miles on it when we picked it up.

It is a Tekna so top of the range with full leather interior and all the new Nissan toys.

first weekend back I wanted to get under its skin and give it some protection so I ripped off the wheels and added some seam sealer and stone chip after a good jet wash. i'm a abit disappointed they use felt rear arch liners as I think they are a terrible design and just trap water!

next job was to trial fit the 18" rota grids we had on the juke they are a bit of an aggressive offset but luckily with a tyre change should just squeeze! also think they will be refinished black..

currently returning 56mpg and is great to drive its weird getting used to all the toys flashing and telling me what is going on..

needs a good clean and wax when I have a spare few hours and see what goodies become available :)

got a set of bolt ons in the shed.... was thinking more slightly less tyre and coilovers.. but iv got about as much chance of fucking Kelly brook then squezzing some coilovers on it..

Always wondered when will the new ones show up on the forum :) How's the engine so far? Official torque figures show quite high gains..

engine is fine bit more poke than the jukes. im sure the 6speed box in it is slightly longer aswell and helps with mpg it pulls really nice it doesn't set your world on fire but it pulls along well enough plan to swap the oil at 10k to try and keep it in good health.

nice looking pulsar!
really love the new one, indeed sucks on those arches... they havn't learned yet :(
Love the white rotas under it aswell

Pulsar C13 won't be successor of N16 sadly, the differences are so big and the car is more like a lowered Qashqai than something N16 is.

The engines are respectable though, straight 4 1.2 liter Turbo with almost 120 horsepowers and there'll be the 1.6 liter Turbo with 190 hp (same engine is in Renault Clio GT), there'll also be the Nismo version with 1.8 Turbo and respectable 279 hp.

If the price of the Nismo will be around £22-30 000, it could be worthy car to face the rivals of the same stage with it's lower price, for example Focus ST and Golf GTI.

I don't think you understand what is meant by spiritual successor this is the first C section car Nissan has produced in the euro market since the N16 so it is it replacement even if it doesn't share the same chassis.

and on the subject of chassis whilst the pulsar is built on the CMF-CD platform that just means its built from the CMF-CD modules Renault and Nissan have designed it could share 2 or 3 modules with the qashqai but its not a qashqai that's like saying the new A3 is just a lowered VW touran which are both built on the Audi MQB platform

Engine wise yes the 190 is the same as the clio but the DiG-t engine is Nissan derived (juke nismo ect) and borrowed by Renault for the clio whereas the K9K 1.5dci and the 1.2 turbo engine are both Renault design and borrowed by Nissan..

Id like to know if you have some solid evidence that the pulsar nismo will be a 1.8 as the 1.8 was used in an American only nismo Sentra concept. seems odd Nissan would use an engine not used in Europe to power a single variant on a low selling model when it could just up the power of the already used 1.6 Dig-t

Did a quick service on the pulsar today the service interval is supposed to be 18K miles but we plan on having this car a while so I want it kept well. As the car is so new I didn't want to use blueprint parts but having rang my local Nissan dealer it turns out the genuine stuff is really not that badly priced.

So I picked up a minor service kit.

interestingly the air filter has been used by Nissan on allot of larger engine cars in the past, but it does mean a nice selection of aftermarket ones could be available for those who are so inclined.

trying to find the correct low SAPS oil was abit of a mine field but the correct oil direct from Nissan was £4 cheaper than some I found online and didn't need shipping!

of course the filter is Renault being as the engine is Renault derived :)

old vs new filter

amazing how much crud you pick up in only 10Kmiles

job done for another 10k.

Off set on those Rota`s is just too much imho,if you try a less widerer tyre it will be well stretched, look cack and screw the handling.
Smart looking motor tho,i quite like it apart from the auto parking/park assist? wtf is that all about? hope it`s not hackable?
Very good move on the redo of the sealer/under arch areas etc and service, peace of mind an all that ;)

Look alright. I think i liked the original wheels better?
Funny you should mention the felt arch liners. I stripped my A4s down the other day and was surprised that it was felt...maybe they're better at sound insulation? Like you say, they must hold moisture though.
