Revs all over the place!! idles at 2.5k

Iv just de cated my gti, and ever since then my cars been idling at 1500 - 2500k.
I understand the idle control valves can carbon up, so will probs take it of an give it a clean!

Am just woundering if anyone else has had this issue and what they have done to rectifie it!

Alrite mate I've got the same on my GTi (just getting a new De-Cat fitted soon as the one thats on is a heap of rust!) Anyway mines does the same, idles at about 2-2.5 but then moves back down to 1and jumps back again! Not had any problems when driving but maybe when I get my new de-cat this idle movement will sort its self out like yours when its cleaned! Hopefully!!
 
id try restetting your ECU leave the battery off overnight then see what happens.. theres no way just changing the cat will cause that as there are no sensors in or around it..
