Stereo not working

I've been having problems with my stereo cutting out then coming on at random times. I had it with the standard cd player doing the cd error, but the radio worked fine and then I replaced it with an aftermarket one which was all good for a while but now it's cutting out too. Don't know if anyone else has experienced this or not, only thing I can think of is a bad earth or could nats possibly affect it?

Most likely black.

Where is it grounded and what head unit?

It's a pioneer one, not sure the exact model it cuts out if the track is loud or bassy. I don't know where it is grounded either but I think a few others on the forum have had the problem just not sure if there is a solution

I had a Pioneer unit that used to cut out when it got too loud or bassy, turned out to be a fault in the head unit and got it repaired.

How would I move the ground point? I did have the same problem with the standard cd player that came with the car Hally, so I thought buying a new hu would solve it and it was okay for a while but now it's not working again

Extend the wire and try a solid clean spot.

Most simply tuck it under one of the screws that hold the head unit in place. Behind the head unit inside the dash is a solid piece of metal running straight across, drill it and ground there with a screw.

I once had a similar problem but it wasnt the head units ground, in fact it was a door speaker not mounted properly. Where the wire met the speaker terminal was grounding unto the door itself. The insulation was stripped at that point to make the connection. That was the last thing I messed with so the problem was easy to diagnose.

Thanks for that, I'll give it a go when I get some free time, much appreciated.
