Coolant top up?

Hi noticed today that the coolant in my car needs topping up.. Theres already anti freeze will it be ok to just top up with water?

This is where you tell me thats room for it to rise when engines hot? Lol something clicked upstairs when i just wrote that

Does it use much coolant? Have you checked for leaks? I had a heater pipe at the back of the engine with a tiny pin hole in it..
 
Well this is what im trying to do. Recently the exhaust started smoking when i rev the engine but it slowly calms down when left to tick over.. To start with i thought it was condensation but it looks a little thicker and normal smell, ive checked oil colour etc and noticed my coolant level was half way between max and min. So just want to top it up to see if its going down atall. But is abit of water ok? Or will it need antifreeze?

It's headgasket is shot.. OH NO you best come buy this GTI ASAP then ;) hahahahahaha
 
Top up the expansion n rad it's self with water..run the car to temp with the heater on hot and max..turn off when it up to temp let the car cool down, top it up if needed..do that I few times.. hopefully it's not the head..park it in a dry spot too you mite see leaks on the ground..my exhaust puts out steam till it's hot..
