I find theres more room than on my axle stands, but I dont have a trolley jack to get it high enough for the top of the axle stands anyway, its easier for me to use the ramps...
 
How effective is the sound deadening do you think? In other words, is anyone who's taken it all out now deafened during motorway driving, fast acceleration etc? Or does it not make much difference?

my only car which is why I dont have huge plans, green one is my brothers now, though I do have use of another car aswell when I need too

just got the decat off the green one so will get that fitted n see if it makes any difference :) get some poppin
 
Yeah, mine is now my only car too, its just all this stripping etc, makes it pretty uncomfortable to drive and theres a point of how far you can go before your effectively driving a track day car just to go to the shops. Im probably going to put my interior back in until I get something else to drive around in.

With regards to removing the deadening, I havent done this but I would say you arent so much going to notice the exhaust noise more, just everything on the road hitting the under side is going to make you think your cars being destroyed
 
Ive still got all the interior in Ive done the whole stripped rear thing with the gti, prefer having the seats n what not in the back , I honestly cant be bothered with removing the sound deadening from the front, it was already pretty bad the in-car noise from road things hitting the underside anyway, alot more noticable than in the gti, but the sound deadening under the seats is essentially over the fuel tank so nothing can really get kicked up underneath to hit it..

on another note my exhaust is SHIT!!
 
went to fit the decat earlier, had a proper look at the catback its like 4 different sizes from the cat chopped and welded, has a hole in the middle of the pipe, and the cat bolts will snap as soon as I turn them, so ye needs changing sooooooooooooooooon
 
you gonna take me out in this next time your back up here then? :D when new exhaust is on too, lovin it mate - v jealous lol

and the mounts are quite harsh you say?

Sounds like mine, there are no bolst between cat and downpipe and cat and centre section,only some lumps of rust where nust and bolts once were. On top of that the front hanger is no longer there either so I'm notsure how long I have till it all just falls apart as it certainly ain't held together any more!

they are quite harsh ye, I think Ive got some poly bushes on the car but dont know where, and the coilovers amplify the shaking aswell, the gti hardly shakes at all with them, wondering if there is a difference between red and black too.....?
