Phase 2 GTi

Helloooooooooooo!

Ive just been going through loads of old emails and found loads of pictures that I didnt think I had anymore... So I thought I would make a thread about the cars I have owned, seeing as though they have all been Almera's:)

So.... My first car was a 1.4 Ambition, I didn't have this very long as I had a disagreement with a lamp post and brick wall after losing it on ice. Unfortunately I have no pictures of the car before hand, but here are the after pics...

So, as you can see I made a nice mess of that one!

Next, I decided to stay with Almeras, so I got a 1.4si. I owned this one for a couple of years and never had any problems with it!
It came as a standard car, I added GTi wheels and spoiler, back box and lowering springs. Here are a few pics:

Then I decided it was time for a change, wanted something that had a bit of performance and then weighed up the options. The only other cars were things like 306 GTi-6, Golf GTi, Saxo VTS...blah blah. Then I realised I could just stick with Almera's and get a car that is far more superior then the cars mentioned above:)

So I decided to get the Almera GTi. It is a 1998 P2, 56k on the clock when I bought it in October 2007. Paid £2500 for it from a dealer, may have been a bit expensive but I wanted it!

So here are a few pics of when I bought it:

It was in pretty good condition, paint work was really good apart from stone chips and scrapes on the front bumper. It already had lowering springs on and Scorpion Cat-back but I wasn't a huge fan of the wheels that came on the car, so I changed them. I also added the clear side repeaters at the same time.

Just after I put them on:

Next on the agenda was to paint the calipers, as so:

Then looking at that picture, the only thing that really let it down was the ride height.
Eventually some coilovers (Daiyamas) became available which I snapped up, then fitted:

Which in my opinion completed the look I was going for, including much better handling.

So next, were the minor engine mods that I could do. The first step was add the 4-2-1 manifold and sports CAT. This completed the exhaust as I already had a cat-back. Following this I added an Apex'i Power Intake filter. At first the engine was filthy (see above), so with the couple of mods I decided to give the engine a bit of scrub, this is how it looks now:

So to end the story so far I decided it was time to come and meet you guys for the first time! It was a short stay but good all the same! So the final pictures of my story to date is parked with some of you guys!:) (Stolen from Ed's pics:D)

does look awesome man spent a good while staring at it dont think you could have picked better wheels :)

Car looks nice, It's strange how many have come up through the almera ranks. It's just hard to get away. You always get drawn back.

Yeh, starting at the bottom is the best way....N15 for life y0!

Car is so clean, I should of swapped all my parts and plates over to yours while you were sleeping.

Thanks for the kind words :)

It is good to look back and see what you have owned in comparison to now. I used to love my 1.4si at the time, but in comparison to the current car it looks terrible now I see the pics, even with lowering springs it still looked like a monster truck  Oh well, it gave me 2 trouble free years.

Right, whose next at doing their story so far? :) Interested to see what everyone else has owned!

Thought this looked great at JAE mate, hence I pointed the camera in your car's direction :D Good to meet you too :).
