SRH'93 Trop Green GTI!!

Thought it would be a good idea to put some stuff up about my car, got photos of this and that lying around so thought I'd stick them up on here :)

I currently refurbishing my Kei racing alloys as they have a lot of marks and scratches which are now really noticeable. Paid £10 for the tires to be stripped (and the garage kept them so bargain!)
This is my first refurbishment of anything like this, usually when I patch up rust on the car I ask my father to weld plates on and then smother the thing in underseal :) (I do clean out as much of the rust before hand though :))

Other things I have done to it include:
  • A complete cut and polish with rubbing compound and a pro buffer with heads (Paint work was MASSIVELY improved)
  • A new front section and cat on the exhaust as it fell off coming home one day from College lol (Sounded pretty awesome(apart from going over speed bumps and trying to guess where the cat was hanging too))
  • The Alloys which run on a 205/40/r17 tyre
  • And little bits and bobs like stereos, amp, sub woofers seat covers!!

Thought I'd put up a quick update, just undersealed the back side and under neath of my car, The rust wasn't very bad but I've managed to catch it before it got a lot worse, did have the rest of the week planned for changing seals on brake calipers but unfortunately my shed was broken in to and one of the things stolen was my Tool chest :(

Fair play man! About a month ago someone broke into my shed and robbed a set of momo gtr's a tool box and my strimers :-( some scum out there

Wheels came out pretty good :D, there are still a lot of little things that need addressing like the under-sealer which I used to temporarily cover the Welding and spots of rust I haven't got time to do. And a previous owner has sprayed parts of the in badly because its run down the car. WP_000070.jpgWP_000073.jpg
I'm also on the look out for some lowering springs, but nothing on the car been changed since new so the shocks would probably blow, which kinda makes me want to save up for some coilys

Yeah, when the cars at a standstill they look small but when its moving they are more visible. Is there any upgarde to get a bigger disk on there?? Just out of curiosity

Thought I'd put up a quick update on things, I'm starting to look around for a GTI as I'm really interested in turning my car into a GTI converve, would really like to use a car thats got a buggered shell as I'm not up for taking a GTI thats runnable and stripping it apart. I've also made a start on the rust but I'm contemplating paints my side skirts black just to give the car a twist

So today was a basic shock swap out (Forgot to take a picture of the new ones :( ) But low and behold when the carpets were pealed back I FOUND RUST spots so I've basically painted them in Rust Converter which is used on ships and isn't your ordinary buy it in the shops stuff. Where ever theres rust this stuff turns blue to stop the reaction and then seals it selfWP_000137.jpg WP_000138.jpg WP_000135.jpg WP_000133.jpg

Sorry but rust convertor isnt going to help, its rotten. That needs welding, if you have an accident with a rear seat passenger that belt will just pull straight off the chassis.

Rust converted will only slow it down at most,it's still going to rust outside inwards, will need cutting out and welding as Liam says.Good work though on the wheels, turn out well.

And best to get it done now and not later really ,as it's a important area also due to seltbelt.Another bad winter could see it get worse.

Can anyone confirm for me this this exhaust manifold is custom?? The oxygen sensor is bloody close to the fans and the plate is stainless steel.

I'll take some pics of the sensor tomorrow but I'm learning as I go with this car, treading lightly. Hopefully claybar and buff the paint up lovely :D
