Suggestion...

Just a suggestion here but it might be a worthwhile one with the modified car scene getting an ever worsening reputation in the eye of the general public...

Maybe all threads or posts of exceeding the speed limit on a public road should be met with instant deletion (Of that post or thread, not the user account)? Its better than having open debates about it and does not give the club or it's individual members a bad reputation.

Likewise with threads about street racing, street drifting etc.

Possibly a good idea.
As some members refuse to admit they exceed the speed limit and start arguments about it.
Even though every one of us has funny memories that I quite like to read.
Nevermind.

Don't really see the point, Joe Bloggs isn't gonna come on here and complain that a Almera cut him up or raced him. Same with somebody posting up what speed they did isn't going to make anybody on here go "ok i'm gonna do that speed".

AOC isn't like a general crusing forum, its a owner club so not gonna get random people joining up here either. Not like we have people joining saying "i did 120mph in my Almera" down the bypass, what can you do?" Individual members driving in their town centres/racing etc is gonna give us a bad name more than someone posting they did x amount of mph down a road or raced a car.

At work so rushed this so apoligies if doesn't make sense.

Just seen the racing post in the other almera discussion, I might have possibly taken your original post the wrong way Corbs, thought you meant somebody saying they did a certain speed in a post while taking about something else about their Almera for example. But I don't agree with posts started soley for the intention of taking about racing etc

I understand the point, but I'm not keen on the idea of censorship. If you disagree with something someone is saying or think its stupid, just post a reply saying so.

I don't think members of the public really come on here, but if you want to stamp out stupid driving on the roads, deleting posts wont do that. If you argue your point and show people why its stupid, that might make people think twice though. Only problem I see with that is, people will get sick of doing that after the second thread.

That's just my two cents. Ultimately I'm not hugely bothered either way.

I don't think members of the public really come on here

This is what I mean. On another site I ghost on (Trampdrift) a news reporter had googled and found the site, linked it to some prats on youtube going sideways on public roads, and an eyewitness account. I mean, all they have to do is pick up a copy of banzai and our web address is on there.
I do believe that there needs to be pruning done to help the club avoid a 'boyracer' image, even if it is just deleting posts on illegal driving.

On TD they have banned any talk of drifting on the streets in order to give the site a leg to stand on in the public eye.

Fair enough, if there is a risk of that happening I take your point. Although much of the forum is off limits unless you pay up full membership.

and you must not forget the police do use forums. a local 'cruise' site i go on, i know of four police that use them to gain an idea of who is the biggest knob so they can watch out for them and pull them for any indiscretion, however small. i havn't had a full look through the site yet, but is there anywhere, in club rules etc, a disclaimer that states the club does not condone racing and speeding on public roads? just an idea if not already done, to avoid censorship as that may upset some people. somehow!

Can you set the oldschool forum colour as default, so I don't have to change it everytime I log on.?

in your profile under options, it still loads black, but when you enter your details it goes to your setting
