updates on the n14 vvl/ nos/ lsd project

Before you read this just want to appoligise for some of the comments and actions you have seen from me on this forum.
Just love my Nissans and very passionate, which sometimes leads me going into other topics...

So sorry....

Anyway back to the build....

BIG SET BACK AS THE CAR NEEDS WELDING ARRGHHHH...
All four corners underneath....
But needs to be done.

Anyway the good news on the progress is that the cage, harnesses, seats, brakes fully bled, hid lights, 4 wheel alignment, cv boots replaced, lsd gear box fitted with the gear ratio from the sunny gti used, coilovers raised.
All been done.

The welding will therefore set back the engine purchase.

Next job after to do is battery to boot and MOT all after the welding.

What I am then going to do is order the following from the states

Greddy mss
jgy clutch
jgy lightweight flywheel

Anyway a few progress pictures
The car is tucked away in my mates garage as mine if full of bits.

This picture shows the lsd gearbox inner driveshaft.
I will let you know the codes later for the cv's as I had to replace them all costing 74 pounds from Nissan.

Both wheels span nicely on the ramp:)

I have also decided to go with the dastsek unichip which can be remapped, so will do with the vvl in, then remap with the Nos in.

Nice interior.. It certainly means business.
Needs some power now.
If you get this right it'll certainly be very fun on track.
Joe

I'll just give to the garage to do as I might do a full respray and may get a discount.
Also it's not a straight forward weld as i need to make extra support brackets underneath to support the bolt in cage, as the bolts come right through the floor and underneath on the two rear corners.

Nightmare.....

800 quid for the welding is a rip mate.

fabricate the plates yourself and take them to be welded on.

no way would i be paying 800 quid for anything, let alone welding

So with the pictures shown welding on all 4 corners, with plates, how much am I looking to pay?

Thanks

dont know mate generally they need to see it first, tbh,

they charged me £120 to replaced/weld in, plus reinforce both my rear top mounts (the top/flat panel where the rear shocks bolt in) in my red gti i had,

:)

i wouldnt pay much over 100 to weld plates over them bits. (im VERY tight though)

do all the grunt work yourself and make the plates yourself. you seem handy with your tools so get a hammer and a block of wood out and shape them bitches yourself. will save you a fortune if all the welder has to do it clean up the surrounding metal and weld on the pre fabricated plates. i'd expect a pro welder to weld 1m of metal per hour. so i'd happily pay max 3 hours labout if i handed the metal plates to him and said put them on

opps forgot about this thread.

Okay the car had a big set back as it needed loads, I mean loads of welding and restoration underneath.
The whole underside was rotten when the skirts were removed, all falling apart basically, so more or less the whole side underneath was rebuilt.
Got loads of pictures to show stages. Amazing job done.
The car is fully restored underneath and undersealed.
Looks mint now, clean as a whistle.
If I am going to keep the car I may as well do the full hog.
So instead of changing the shell, I got it repaired which took out 3 months budget, so the project finish time will now be delayed by 3-5 months.
Anyway I have got the car back.
A few progress shots.
Project commence.
I also have 2 donor cars which I will be breaking in the next month or so.
1. 1.8 pulsar gti
2. 2.0 sunny gti
Some of these pictures may be duplicated.
