I made inquiries about the above 94k GTi that appeared on Gumtree last night. ‘Godfrey’ sent me photos, but evaded my request for the V5 doc ref number (so I could do an online MOT/Mileage check) and now I know why...

Looks like he's tidied up the broken splitter. Rust mark on front of bonnet identifies it as the same car.
 
Just out of curiosity I have just rang the number off Gumtree and asked the very "foreign" seller what the mileage on the car was. He wouldn't tell me till I told him where I had seen the advert which is obviously strange. When I told him that I had seen it on Gumtree he told me that it was 94429. I then proceeded to tell him that I saw the listing that he bought the car from on Ebay and the fact the mileage is actually 140k + and I know he only paid around £250 and he hung up on me.

I then rang him back and to my surprise he answered, so I told him that the mileage can be checked against the MOT database and he told me to "Fuck off".

After having previous adverts pulled by Gumtree, he’s back: http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/nissan-almera/1007476963 This time no mileage stated or photos. Just a warning that this is the same seller/car. If you Google the new mobile number he’s using, you’ll find old adverts for cars he’s advertised previously, and what’s the betting they weren’t also clocked? I have reported him to Trading Standards, hopefully he’ll have his collar felt before he rips off anyone else.
