buggered alarm

Sorry, i don't know where else to post this but need some info if anyone knows.

I went to the g/f's house today and locked up the car with the fob as i normally do. When i left 4 hours later the car wouldn't unlock with either fob. So i got her to take me home to get the master one only to find it doesn't work for whatever reason, even after i changed the battery.

So now, the car is stuck outside hers up the street infront of some random persons house. I didn't want to unlock the car with the key as i thought the alarm wont disarm.

If i do open with the key, can i remove the battery to kill the alarm siren or does it have an internal battery to keep going (which i imagine it would) so i would have to try and remove that.. And even if i do, will the car start up with the key?

If im lucky it'll respond again in the morning then im never using the fob again, i'll stick to locking it with the key!

i know with some vauxhalls if you open with the key and set the alarm off, put the key in the ignition and then press the button it works. a woman i work with has done it, even though her alarm wont work from outside the car (like yours).

could also be a signal apparantly, were i work every so often theres a problem with car alarms refusing to disarm, like yours is doing, its fine after a few hours though, apparantly its down to a mobile phone mast but im not sure how true that is, police dont seem interested so i would assume its something innocent and not criminals doing it.

id just hate to have the alarm going off and be unable to disarm it. I'll try what you said if it doesnt work before attempting to cut the alarm wires.. Any idea where the siren is? I could at least bung it up to quieten it down..

I think this does work, unfortunately it's midnight now otherwise I would test it for you on mine. But if I remember correctly, yes, shoving the key in and starting the car while the alarm is going off stops it.

And yeah, whenever I go to my local halfords, it takes me a while to alarm the car and the same disarming (how ironic), so maybe same as what sprint said about interference from a mast.

Finally iirc the siren on mine is on the passenger side of the bay, next to the wing.

ok

i had this bother other day - the key fob will loose its code if u press the 2 buttons togther for 6 secs or more. (i stupidy did this)

had no way of disarming alarming or the indicators - if you remove the alarm sounder the indicators willl still flash.

a friend of the family fixed my problem in 2 minutes, you need to hold both buttons till the light on fob goes off or stays on, then you need to press the red button once (im sure this is what he did) if it dont work then i will try to contact him and find out what he did.

you can disarm the alarm and indicators by removing 2 fuses, but im not going to post where these fuses are for obviosu reasons

thanks guys, i'll give all your suggestions a try.

if you could PM me the locations of the fuses that would be most helpful to me mate

press and hold the red button on the master for 10 seconds

the red light will stay on!

press the black one on the master

press the black one on the secondary

press the red on the master and it should work!

hope it helps!

Its working now guys. A comination of the above plus some random pressing sorted it.

wayne, for some reason the master one doesnt work.. Its clearly been unused also as its in a brand new conidition unlike the 2 normal ones which are clearly well used.

Also found out mother was using my car on new years eve, she opened the door with the key and the alarm went off and went a bit nuts so she started random pressing so i think she may have knocked it out of sync. You've all saved my skin, i think i best pay up for a membership soon as gratitude ;)

for future reference you DO NOT NEED the master to reprogram your fob, i do not have the master only the 2 button fob (you may need the master to reprograme a new fob) our friend (ex nissan technican) reprogramed my fob just by pressing the buttons in a certain sequence.

I may as well, it could come in handy incase i become stuck again. I think my mother knocked it out of sync so im going to continue using the fob.. Just incase it turned out to be an alarm fault it would be good to know how to stop the siren without having to chop it :)

Just to put my 2ps worth in, & also for future referance, if memory serves me correctly, if you press the buttons on the fob so many times out of range of the car (I think 30, not sure) this wipes the code from the fob, so you have to re-synch the fob with the car.

Someone on here did it a good while back & suffered the same problems you describe.

Oh and also for future reference, you can use the master to arm and disarm the alarm, it just takes ages. When I got my car, the guy only gave me the master. If you hold down the red button for ages until it goes a static red, then press it near the car, it will alarm/disarm the car. But it means standing there for at least 10 seconds waiting for the fob light to stay on. I bought a cheap fob off ebay and used the master to reprogramme it later.
