updates on the n14 vvl/ nos/ lsd project

Okay so rims came this afternoon.

Got 3 of them on and also tried the rear with the steelies, they just about go on.
One of the wheel nuts on a 19' socket is fooked so need to sort that out.
However look how lose this brake clearance is from wheel to caliper, I just about got the 16's on.
Is this cutting it too fine?
What do you all think?

I even needed to remove the metal sticker thingy on the wheel edge.

p.s also fancy calling budget tyres Sunny lol

Quoted for everlasting preservation.

Tire balance, also referred to as tire unbalance or imbalance, describes the distribution of mass within an automobile tire or the wheel to which it is attached. When the tire rotates, asymmetries of mass cause the wheel to wobble, which can cause ride disturbances, usually vertical and lateral vibrations. It can also result in a wobbling of the steering wheel. The ride disturbance, due to unbalance, usually increases with speed. Vehicle suspensions can become excited by tire unbalance forces when the speed of the wheel reaches a point that its rotating frequency equals the suspension’s resonant frequency. Tires are inspected in factories and repair shops by two methods: static balancers and dynamic balancers. Tires with high unbalance forces are downgraded or rejected. When tires are fitted to wheels at the point of sale, they are measured again, and correction weights are applied to counteract the combined effect of the tire and wheel unbalance. After sale, tires may be rebalanced if driver perceives excessive vibration.

You won't be able to put the rim type on 1.2s, they don't have a traditional lip.

Edit. What wheels do you even have? Im on my phone and can't see the pics, don't know where I got 1.2s from.

Fair play.
I will openly say yes I did not know.
But i needed to rip them off because the wheel wouldn't spin all around as the caliper was so close.
So not to worry i just need to get them rebalanced simple.
I was going for that and a 4 wheel alignment anyway.

Look how close, so it was coming off regardless.

Yes AOC, you got me on this one bitches lol...well at least it gets you all viewing my thread...lol...win some you loose some...Next laugh me in the 13's

p.s Kurt Team Dymanic pro race 1.2 16' 4 x 100, lightweight baby..

Just to put my mind at rest.

When balancing a wheel can the sticker be on?
my friend has just started a tyre changing garage. i have seen him balancing the wheels with the balancing machine. he leaves the sticker on the wheel when doing it. will this affect the balance? ie when the sticker is taken off will the wheel not balance?

If you really wanted to get the balance of a wheel balanced perfectly then the sticker will want to be removed, but most tyre machines will not notice the imbalance from this. You can have a wheel needing 10 grams of weight on it before you will notice any problems even at speed. If you had a car that was doing 200 mph you might want top get it about right, but i doubt it you would take your car like that to a local tyre firm

Guess you mean the label on the tyre - yes it is fine as it is too light to make any difference. The wheel and tyre do not have to be in perfect balance

the Weight of a sticker will not make any difference

As said too light to be significant. What if the tyre picks up a stone in the tread? That too is insignificant.

ideally the tire would be in the exact condition it will run in.

no it won't

if you have to ask this question your not qualified

I had to remove my wheel weights and get them moved in when fitted the fto brakes on 15".
Wheels wouldn't turn the clearance was so tight, same as you with those brakes and 16".

Looks very nice :)

To be honest most wheel fitters never get in spot on any way i was taught in collage that anything 5grams and under was acceptble. So sticker on or off wont make any differnce.

Get a proper video of this mate, a want to hear what it sounds like, you cant beat the sound of those cames switching.

Car looks good tho and its good to see you pushing out all the stops to attempt to break into the 13s, good luck fella!

Okay...massive update.

Finally got the last wheel on after a nut issue.
Went down to my local tyre place.
Got the wheel weights on this time positioned inner within the rim, they said this was all fine.

Got the wheels balanced and also had the wheel alignment for the front.
Have to say after I took the car for a blast the difference is noticable alot, going from 17's and shit tyres to lightweight 16's and toyo t1-r at the front.
Wheel spin has almost elimated and the car stuck to the floor on launch.
Can't wait to go Pod, weather pending next week.

Anyway I have now stripped the car of most of the things i thought were slowing it down.
Stripped the following;
rear cage- sold collection next week
17's comps th2's- sold collection next week
large heavy double din headunit - keeping for next car
rear speakers- keeping incase i sell and need to put interior back in
passenger seat- keeping for now
I can possible also remove the door cars if I have some time later as well.
Every little helps..

Had a good look underneath the car as well, beautiful, underseal baby, looking clean and fresh.
p.s also noticed that i now have holes in the car left from where the bolt in cage was, more underseal on it's way.
The car is mainly dry use only, so shouldn't have a problem with water/ rain getting to it.

My brother in his RX8 and neighbour in his Ford ST are now running scared lol

Now I am hoping to get as close to 13's as possible.
Remember my best so far is 14.83, now with the above stripped and running toyo t1-r i should hope very low 14's or even 13's high which is my aim.
If i don't hit 13's then it's time for the racing compound crossply tyres. yeah Fat wide and sticky...
What time do you think?

Anyway Pictures....
